| After an extended hiatus, I'm pleased to announce the next generation of Costumer's Notes is coming soon. We're going old-school with new technology. Costumer's Notes began life as a printed 'zine back in the late 80's. The focus was on general costuming, everything from historic to ethnographic garments to how-to tips and ideas for surface design, pattern making and construction.
In the '90's the 'zine became more focussed on Middle Eastern Belly Dance and in doing so, became the foundation for my first publication. Costuming From the Hip has gone on to sell more than 20,000 copies world-wide since the first edition release in 1993. My latest book, Embellished Bras is in it's second printing and has become an essential how to book for dancers in a variety of performance genres.
The new Costumer's Notes will be released as a 'zine again. In a quarterly multi-page printable .pdf format. This new style of publication will make it far easier to share your costuming ideas with friends, students and troupe-mates. In addition, by popular demand, I'm putting up a blog here on the site. To document ongoing projects, share hot tips and websites, but mostly, to stay in touch between issues. As of this moment, we've got a few bugs to work out of the new website, but it's just a matter of weeks and we'll be back up and running again!
Thanks go out to everyone who has supported my work, as I travel the costumer's road.
